Why RISE?
I joined RISE because I want to connect with my community and help strengthen it at the grassroots level. I'm excited to work with an organization and individuals whose values and objectives align with mine.

I joined RISE because I am interested in building community-engaged projects with other young people. I'd like to develop the tools to overcome structural barriers and learn from fellow organizers across the country.
I joined RISE to help me become a more active member of Canada’s democracy. I’m excited to use this opportunity to collaborate with other motivated youth to help empower others in our community. Additionally, I’m hoping to be able to contribute toward meaningful change in my city.
It was a chance for me to share my passions and connect with a diverse group of people to create a meaningful project with a lasting impact.
Bryan currently works at a climate tech company in Vancouver, aiming to accelerate the net-zero transition in the built environment. Beyond his profession, he has been exploring climate action as an individual; he's switched to a vegetarian diet and a climate-friendly bank, and most recently volunteered with CityHive's Youth Climate Innovation Lab. After YCIL, he's hungry to do more with RISE by engaging with his community and creating meaningful youth-led change.
I joined RISE because I wanted to get experience volunteering and the idea of creating a tangible community project excited me. I was also enticed by the prospect of meeting new people through the cohort model and gaining new perspectives.
I joined RISE because I wanted to develop a meaningful resilience against political complacency and cynicism. There are many reasons to be understandably indignant and pessimistic about the current state of the world. At the same time, however, I didn't want to persist in feeling hopeless. I wanted to do more than be steeped in the intake of negativity, and to pursue the output of good-faith positivity into the community, for the community.
I joined RISE in an effort to branch out, connect with my community, and explore our collective ability to encourage youth to advocate for themselves and their peers, all while providing the resources to do so!
